With £1.6bn in failed parcel deliveries in the UK alone, there’s a growing need for deliveries directly to the person. I believe verified digital IDs can enable the holy grail in parcel delivery - delivering items to people wherever they are—as opposed to a delivery address, thus overcoming last-mile delivery challenges and massively reducing those costs. By coupling blockchain with the irrefutability of biometric verification, a unique and personal digital identity is created. The beauty of this method is the fact that no one, besides the owner, is able to use the digital ID—eradicating any potential for fraud and preserving privacy. Our Contactless Delivery feature has picked up some great coverage today. Top of the list is this article on Coindesk, who write: "During a delivery, the courier would use an app to scan the receiver’s digital ID (issued by Nuggets) to verify they are indeed the customer that ordered the item(s). When the customer is successfully identified, the parcel is delivered and a proof of delivery is immediately sent to the company at which the purchase was made. Nuggets said the system “guarantees verified delivery of a package to the right recipient,” while using a blockchain allows for the secure communication of customers’ biometric and payment information."
